About DocEditor

DocEditor is part of Tingle Communications, a sole-trading company belonging to Dr Cathy Tingle.

Taking on work

I have the right to refuse work if I feel I can’t undertake it by your deadline to an excellent standard.

I will bill after the completion of a project. Payment terms are within 30 days.

Working with academic staff and students directly

If you’re a student or academic, you must ensure that consulting an editor is allowed by your institution. I will not check this for you.

I can’t guarantee that my work will enable your document to pass an examination or assessment, or be accepted by a journal or another publication.

I will not rewrite academic documents, or parts of academic documents, for you. I can check if citations that appear in your text are detailed your references/bibliography section, format references/bibliographies and alert you to inconsistencies within extracts, but I cannot check the correctness of reference details, including page numbers, or the accuracy of quotes.

How I work

In Word, I make amendments and comments using Track Changes, and may produce a separate query sheet if this is appropriate.

I also work in pdf format, using the ‘Comment’ function. I can work in other formats, too, including PowerPoint and InDesign. Please ask.

Privacy

I take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information to administer your account and to provide the products and services you have requested from me.

When your data is entered into the DocEditor contact form it is sent to doceditor@doceditor.co.uk via email and stored on a Gmail server. The information will be kept for no longer than is necessary for me to answer your queries or to complete your project.

Once you are no longer a client, our correspondence has finished and I no longer need it for legal, tax or regulatory reasons, your data will be moved from doceditor@doceditor.co.uk to trash for deletion. This also applies to two further email accounts that DocEditor uses for administrative purposes.

I keep electronic copies of manuscripts I have recently worked on for training purposes, and store them securely on password-protected platforms. Once I no longer need them I securely dispose of them. If I would like to use a disguised version of your work for training purposes, I will contact you directly to ask for permission before doing so.
